Summertime fun

This mama needs a massage. After having some time off and only doing a massage here and there, its hard to get used to having a busy schedule again. I only have 3 groupons left. I was hoping to sell out of them by today but really I'm just happy I got so close.

In other news, yesterday our neighbors decided to fish for some crawdads in the creek that's in our backyard area. I had no idea anything lived in that creek. We saw a bunch of tadpoles too. The kids had a lot of fun.

Shortly after releasing the crawfish, we decided to go swimming. About 6 kids in the neighborhood came. I'm so glad Fiona has kids to play with. The one person who has brought us all together is leaving though. Her husband got a job in Coos Bay area teaching middle school so it's all happening very quickly. I've never had an experience with a neighbor like this before so it's really sad to see her go.

Last school year I would take Fiona to the bus stop and send her off to school. Then Andi and I would get together for coffee one or two times a week and just hang out. I'll miss that. 

It's been difficult after losing a best friend and losing a job. There aren't many people to talk to. My coworkers drove me crazy most of the time but I have to admit that I miss having a few of them around to BS with every day.

We'll make the most of it though and hey, now that we know someone near the beach, we'll have somewhere to stay ;)

Busy Bee

I don't start work until the afternoon today but once I get started it's gonna be a busy day.

This morning I logged into my Groupon site to see how things were going. I'm up to 34 sold which is good. But I saw something disappointing. A client left some feedback that said they only got a 45 minute massage because it took 15 minutes to fill out the paperwork. I've been racking my brain to figure out who would have written that because honestly every person has gotten the full 60 minutes except for one client who was late and she only missed out on 5 minutes, not 15. The health history form is 2 pages now but it doesn't take 15 minutes. Writing your name and other contact info is what takes the longest. The rest is a checklist of health issues that might prevent me from doing certain things.

2 other clients said they would recommend me but didn't leave a comment. Because of that person my approval rating is only 64%. I guess I just have to let that one go. Maybe they're clock was off, who knows.

I must get this day started because I got another client as I'm writing this. I promise to share some pictures next time :)

Reconnecting

Happy hump day! For those who work traditional M-F anyway. I've been working almost everyday except I did take yesterday off because I didn't have any clients on the schedule. I spent the day being super lazy. Sometimes thats a good thing but this time it wasnt. I had plans to do a few things but couldn't get myself motivated.

My Groupon deal started on the 12th and since then I've sold 29 out of 50. I think thats pretty good for about a week and half. I've seen about 7 of those clients and there are a few more on the books for this month. I'm happy to be busier but its still pretty stressful. I saw a meme on FB the other day that said "I got 99 problems and money can solve 98 of them" haha that pretty much sums it up. I updated my resume, now I just need to start the search for a part time job.
Other than that not much has been happening. Fiona is about to finish up summer school this Friday. This week was spirit week where each day the kids come dressed in a theme. Yesterday was mismatch day, she wore a Mini Mouse red and black polkadot dress with a pair of pink addidas stretchy pants with the stripes going down the side underneath. Today was crazy hair day which she was really exicited about. I divided her hair into 3 parts and put it in ponytails, then split each one in half and tied them into seperate ponytails. To finish it,we put a bunch of different hair clips all over. I didn't get a picure but I will when she gets home today if its still intact.

This is the tip I got for the massage I did this morning. First time I've ever gotten an energy drink.

A new decade

It's been a while since I've posted. Not sure I'll continue. I don't think I really have anything interesting to write about and I'm pretty sure you're my only follower Krista hehe.

Well I turned 30 yesterday and it was a fun day. I spent the first half running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get ready but once my friends showed up I had a blast. I feel like I left some people out and didn't talk to them much and I feel bad about that but I hope that wasn't the last BBQ we have this summer.

I got some really great gifts too. A mason jar full of moonshine that tastes like apple pie, a super cute mosaic type mirror, some earrings and henna tattoo kit and a gift card to Tiffany's! I've never been there so that's exciting.

I wish I would have taken more pics yesterday but here are the ones I did get. Oh and I got a haircut with color :)

The wheels are turning

I just got back from a run and I have to say, my lungs hate me. It's been a good 3 or 4 months since I have done any running. I have been doing my Xbox Nike trainer thing but its always a different feeling when you just run, especially outside. Now I just need to keep it up.
Now, I've been waiting on Groupon to call me back for weeks. Yesterday I finally called them to see whats going on and the lady set me up and got me approved in just a couple of hours. The ad won't go live for another couple of weeks but still, it's progress. I just wish I would have called sooner.

Because my income is close to nothing right now, I've been thinking about either getting a job or doing some other kind of work to supplement. I wasn't exactly offered a job but a woman I met about a month ago is interested in me and I am in the application process to join her wellness center. It doesnt open until next month but the concept is really cool. Although I would be branded under the company's name, I would still be building my clientele and have control over myself but all the marketing, bookeeping and reception services are handled by the center. That way I can do what I love and not have to worry about the business side of things. Plus I will have other practitioners in the same building I can refer to like accupuncture, chiropractic and many others. The cool thing is that the center is not just focused on the body. They will have coaching, psychiatrists and hipnotherapists just to name a few.

Another thing I got into is skin care. At first I was very skeptical and didn't like the fact that I would have to sell the product to make money. I felt as if I was pushed into doing something I didn't want to do; sell. But I have been using the products and I really like it. It is a product that can help a lot of people, especially my clients. It is exclusive because it comes from the dead sea. It has a lot of minerals that can not be found any other place in the world. Thousands and thousands of people visit the dead sea every year because it's healing properties. Conditions such as psorasis, escema, rosacia, reduces sun spots and wrinkles will benefit from this product. After learning more about it, I'm actually kind of excited. I have seen results in 15 minutes and that is pretty amazing. Remember a few weeks ago when I got sunburned? After being in pain for a day or two I decided to use the body butter, one of staples. It took me a while to realize it, but I never peeled! I have had so many sunburns in my life and besides the pain, the peeling is the worst.

Last week I was feeling so down. I've been stuck in a rut and I wasn't sure what to do. Today I feel like things are moving forward and I will try my best in these new ventures. If I fail, at least I can say I tried.

It's a thing

Cat bearding. I was browsing Instagram and found all these hilarious photos of people who were "cat bearding" I'll show you what I mean. After many attempts, this was all I could get out of my cat. She was sleeping so it didn't work too well but if she were awake she would probably try to scratch my face off.

June? Already?

We hear it every year but this time I really don't know where the time went. I'll be 30 this month AND Fiona graduates kindergarten!! On Friday they had all the parents come to see them sing songs and recite poems they've been practicing. It was really cute. Fiona woke up super early that morning and wanted me to do something special with her hair. We did the Lady Gaga bow. After it was done she says in excitement "I look like Hello Kitty!" Except that style is not very kid friendly. Just running to the bus was enough for it to lose it's shape.

Now that that's over, she'll be spending almost an entire week with her dad. So I'm hanging out at the spa. Surprisingly, I've had quite a few takers on chair massage and I even had 2 walk ins for a full body. It seems like the end of the month is busiest. I hope it's a good sign that I had a client on the first day of the month. She even tipped me with homemade strawberry jam.

I should be doing some paperwork but instead I found myself doodling. It's been soooo long. As a kid I wanted to be a cartoonist but going to fashion design school brought out the more realistic side. I'm not naturally creative tho.

In other news, the kittens are almost ready to leave their mama. They are so big and fun to play with. I always take pictures of their sleeping positions. They crack me up sometimes. This was quite the random post. I think I will go enjoy some sunshine now
